Listing rules

You may submit a server you own or have been given permission to advertise. Listing somebody else’s server without their agreement is the most common reason a submission is refused.

One person may hold up to three listings at a time. A listing that is pending, approved or hidden counts against that limit; a denied one does not.

• An address that answers a status ping when we check it. If your server is not reachable, there is nothing to list.
• A name of 3 to 32 characters that is the name of the server, not a slogan.
• A description of 60 to 250 characters written as sentences. Keyword lists are refused.
• At least one gamemode, up to eight. Per gamemode, up to six features from our list and up to four of your own at 32 characters each.
• Custom features that describe something the server has. "Seasonal Events" is a feature; "Best server ever" is not.

• Servers whose content is illegal where they operate, or which exist to distribute malware, cheats or stolen accounts.
• Servers advertising real-money gambling, or selling anything to people who cannot legally buy it.
• Servers whose name, description or artwork contains slurs, sexual content involving minors, or harassment of a named person.
• Duplicate listings for the same address. If you run several gamemodes behind one proxy, that is one listing with several gamemodes.
• Listings that exist to advertise something other than a Minecraft server.

Every submission is read by a person before it appears, usually within a day. Editing a live listing sends it back for review; the existing version stays up while we look at the change.

If a listing is denied you will be told why, and you can fix the problem and submit again. A denial is not a ban.

Placement comes from live player counts and votes. There is no paid placement, no promoted slot and no arrangement under which a payment changes where a server appears. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the page it affects.

Attempting to inflate votes or player counts — bot accounts, fake clients, scripted voting — removes the listing and the account behind it.

We ping every listed server about every thirty minutes. A server that has been unreachable for three days is hidden automatically, and comes back on its own once it answers again. Nothing is deleted for being offline.

You can delete your own listing at any time, and it goes immediately. We may remove a listing that breaks these rules, and will say which rule.
